Brighton proved to be a cold and snowy stop, but Mother Nature didn’t stop hordes of misguided youth from coming out. Riders poured into the lodge at the earliest of hours to register for the contest, snag some fresh snake session t-shirts, and feel out the competition. After all the prerequisites were taken care of, competitors headed up the lift, and lined up to drop into the snowy battlefield. High winds and snow squalls didn’t keep the crew of groms from bombing away at the multiple run-in quarter pipe jib set up.

After an hour of riding, Forum’s elite judging staff comprised of JP Walker, Stevie Bell, and Jake Welch picked 6 finalists and took them to their secret stashes around the resort to determine who was the most rounded rider. If getting to take a few laps with some of snowboarding’s most respected riders wasn’t enough, the top three were chosen, and awarded limited edition Snake Session Belts, bragging rights, and a grip of Forum goods. For those that didn’t make the cut, a hefty forum product toss ensued and the world (in)famous Cobra Dogs eased the pain with free dogs and all the toppings.
INTERVIEW WITH THE WINNER - Chase Fromm

FORUM: So what brings you to Brighton?

CHASE: Well, I mostly live in South Dakota with my dad, but my mom lives here so I come here.

FORUM: You’re a Brighton local for part of the year?

CHASE: Yeah, part of the year.

FORUM: Nice. What did you think about the competition today? How was that quarterpipe?

CHASE: It was pretty sweet.

FORUM: You were really going for it. What was your best trick today?

CHASE: Probably, like, maybe at the end, on the barrel, until I wrecked.

FORUM: You took a pretty hard spill…I was really surprised you got up.

CHASE:  Yeah, I’m just glad I got to make it down that run with the pros.

FORUM: Tell me how that run was, with JP & Jake  & Stevie & those guys?

CHASE: We went up on Cress and went over up in the trees over there and there was like a 10 footer sorta stepdown. Then we hit another jump and it was about a 20 foot gap or something in the trees there. After that we went down through some trees then we went through the end of the park. Then…that’s about it.

FORUM: What was that trick again that won this thing? You 360’d  a gap in the woods?

CHASE:  Yeah, that gap in the trees, that 20 foot gap, I did a backside 3 off it.

FORUM: JP was talking about it and the other judges were talking about it when you guys got back in here. That was the one that nailed it for ya.

CHASE: Thanks!

FORUM: Well congrats Chase, enjoy your new Forum goodies.
