The weather seemed really bad at first, as the day was foggy, wet and cold. And to boot, the park had melted quite a bit during the previous night. But mother nature didn’t stop the contestants who showed up to snake from jamming. We ended up dragging random cool stuff into the park to shred on. Red Bull loaned us a bar table to bonk on. We gathered all the snow that we could find, and built the corner so that it almost touched the sky. But it wasn’t big enough for these snakes. A couple of the competitors even jumped over the whole thing, and landed in the flats! That’s how sick it was! It gave them an idea, why not use the corner as a box, and flip, spin and fly over it. That was where this Snake Session started to get insane. Joni carved around with everyone from the contest, and called the shots on when the first jam heat was over and when the next one began. And between the heats, he shouted funny things to the judges from the Red Bull tent! That guy was on fire! After the first heat that ended, Joni and the judges chose the final snakes that wuold bomb away the last heat. The corner jump definitely withstood some heavy punishment in the final rounds as contestants were laying life and limb on the line throwing tricks off of it. In the end Ville Paumola walked away with top honors and tons of free stuff including a brand new Forum Youngblood snowboard. Other winning snakes got plenty of awesome Forum gear, and Those that didn’t make the cut got some fresh T-shirts and THAT DVDs. Kids still can’t get enough of THAT! When the session was over guess who came out to visit...The sun! Summer is almost here. INTERVIEW WITH THE WINNERS - Ville Paumola & Rosa Klaukka FORUM : Hey Ville and Rosa, and congrats for winning this years Forum Youngblood title! How does it feel, and was it a good jam at Mount Peuramaa? VILLE & ROSA : THANKS! Yeah, it was a good competition, although the weather was really bad. FORUM : Where are you (Ville) from, and how old are you? VILLE : I’m from Kuusamo (northern Finland), and 15 years old. FORUM : And you Rosa? ROSA : I’m local, from Kirkkonummi. FORUM : Where do you two ride usually? VILLE : Ruka! ROSA : Peuramaa, and sometimes at other resorts near by. FORUM : And your all time favourite place to ride? VILLE: Ruka, of course! ROSA :I haven't visited that many places yet. FORUM : Best trick today? VILLE : Hmm, the Cab 7? ROSA : I’d say the frontside 360! FORUM : What do you guys like to do when you go out riding? Jibbing, or chilling the big kickers? VILLE: Both! Or maybe the boxes... FORUM : Who was the best rider today? If you two don’t count. VILLE : Hmm, there were a lot of good riders. Maybe Niki Korpela and Roni Rintala. They both were really good. ROSA : The Finish Forum team. FORUM : How did you two decide to join the Snake Sessions? VILLE : I just checked on the internet that it seemed like a fun contest, and got a ride. So why not? ROSA : All the cool posters, and the nearby location. This is my hood. FORUM : You both ride with Forum boards, Ville with The Grudge and Rosa with Joni Malmi. Are you satisfied? VILLE : The Grudge is a really good board, nothing to complain about! ROSA : It was my second day riding with that board. And it’s obviously a good board. FORUM : Do you have any sponsors? VILLE & ROSA : No, not yet... =) Other than daddies wallet. FORUM : Did you have time or chance to ride with Joni today? VILLE & ROSA : Hehe, yeah, we did follow him a couple of runs. FORUM : You think he’s a cool guy? VILLE : Yeah, he is a really good rider.
