The Forum crew headed down to Alpe di Siusi, Italy for the fifth European Snake Sessions stop to check out how the Italians
are ripping. The weather was fantastic with bluebird skies, sunshine, and super warm temperatures; which ended up not being so good for the park though as it
got super soft, super fast. However, the contest must go on, and after a little reshaping the kids still managed to have a fun day under the southern sun.
Especially the kids who had the opportunity to ride with Mr. Stevie Bell, who according to himself is truly a "European at heart".
The day started with the kids hitting all of the obstacles at their own pace but because the park was pretty big, it was
hard to keep the group shredding together. So after lunch the Forum posse, consisting of Stevie, Jon and Joonas took charge and
led all of the contestants through the park in true jam session style; with everyone going up and coming down together throwing sick tricks one after
another. No contest would be complete however without at least one Dutsch kid, and this contest was no exception. Tamor Roos showed up and collected the
jackpot of the day - a brand new Forum board plus a bunch of other goodies. After the celebrations of the winners were
done, “Terje” Weaver, Joonas and Stevie build a sweet step up hip and threw backflips off of it.
The Italians (and the Dutsch of course) were in the spirits (possible because of the good riding and possibly because of the amounts of Monte
Negro –a local herb liquor- consumed, to ermm, help digest the BBQ) and cheering the guys to go even bigger. No doubt the show that the boys put on
was primetime material!
Oh, and Stevie being the multitalented pro rider that he is, even guided his board onto a speed track on the slope
and blasted a result of 84 km/hour (89 km/hour according to Stevie himself…hmm!). Could this be the new direction of snowboarding? |
| INTERVIEW WITH THE WINNER - Tamor Roos |
FORUM: So how old are you?
Taylor: I turned 13 two days ago.
FORUM: Where are you from?
Taylor: Den Haag in Holland.
FORUM: So where do you normally ride?
Taylor: Zootermeer meaning Sweet Lake City, an indoor slope near me. They have a sick park with jumps and rails.
FORUM: Wow so that’s a long way to come for this….
Taylor: We just came down for the competition, like a 1000km drive just for this! It took us like 11hours! So long but worth it for sure!
FORUM: So how did you enjoy today?
Taylor: Yeah it was loads of fun and the format of just riding with everyone around the park was so sick as it was a chilled park. We all rode together and that was really cool.
FORUM: So when are you back at school?
Taylor: Yeah we have to go back and I am back at school on Tuesday!
FORUM: Do you get much time on snow in the mountains then?
Taylor: Yeah I love too but I don’t get so much chance because of school.
I rode at the Dutch Championships and got 3rd in the pipe with some big grabs.
My favorite terrain is to ride street rails, kickers and this kicker here was one of the best!
FORUM: So which riders stood out today?
Taylor: Yeah the dark one was pretty good. (FORUM: by this we assume Taylor is talking about Stevie J.)
FORUM: So when are you next on snow?
Taylor: Yeah in 3 weeks we are away and riding that should be pretty sick we are going to Austria for the AM tour in Mayrhofen.
FORUM: Ok well good luck over there and we will catch you at the Youngblood in Holland!
Taylor: Thanks, thanks!
