This installment of  Forum’s Youngblood Snake Sessions Tour found itself at Nakiska Resort, just outside Calgary, AB. They had a nice mellow 15 ft kicker built for the contest, as well as a down rail just after the kicker.  Unfortunately the rail was shut down ten minutes into the competition after a rider took a pretty nasty spill on it. (Don’t worry, the rider was okay.)  Local Forum am rider Paul Gonzales helped out with the judging for the along with help from the Calgary Forum Crew. Brianna Stangeland, another local Forum ripper was also snaking in and out of the contest (sounds like somebody had the right idea!).

The event really heated up when one of the coaches yelled “stop speed checking! There is no way you guys are going to overshoot this!” Hey, it worked. Everyone started clearing the jump. The final round was a tough call. With 2 girls and 8 guys, the judges had their work cut out for them. At the end of the day, however, it was Tanner Davidson that walked away with the number one spot.

INTERVIEW WITH THE WINNER -Tanner Davidson

FORUM: Hey Tanner, so what’s the deal? Are you a local around here?

TANNER: Uh, Calgary.

FORUM: Is this your home mountain?

TANNER: No, I usually don’t ride here.

FORUM: Where do you usually ride then?

TANNER: Well, I train at COP [Calgary Olympic Park] & got to the mountains…Lake Louise or Sunshine.

FORUM: What did you think about the contest today?

TANNER: I thought it was really fun just getting out with everyone.

FORUM: Where you hitting the second feature at all, at first? Or was it too sketchy?

TANNER:  I hit it once. Then it got closed.

FORUM: Which do you prefer, rails or jumps?

TANNER: I like them both. Whatever.

FORUM: How long have you been riding?

TANNER: it’s my seventh year.

FORUM: Wow. Half your life. What’s your favorite trick?

TANNER: Um, I don’t know. Probably, front five. Indies.

FORUM: What was your favorite that you threw today?

TANNER: Front seven or a back one crail.

FORUM: Oh yeah, I do remember that. At one point I was like, where is that kid? You kinda flew over my head. And then oh, there he is. You guys were going huge today. Ok, out of everyplace you’ve ever ridden what’s your favorite?

TANNER: Well, I’ve had some pretty good times at Big White.

FORUM: Cool. Any shout outs?

TANNER: My coaches for bringing me here.
